Picos da Europa expedition 2015: day 5
The night was calm and re-energizing. The hotel uses a generator for electricity that is shut down at mid-night. After that moment, absolute silence! Only the sound of the wind persists. Some adventurous fellows stayed up and made some nice night sky images. I’ll have to come back to this amazing place and stay here a bit longer for those types of images…
Now was the day for the high mountain glorious sunrise… or was it?
Picos da Europa expedition 2015: day 4
After an easy day with a wake up scheduled for 8:00, today was our last chance to make the sunrise at the Covadonga lakes. Thus, an early waky, waky 🙂
TOOLS: ICE 2.0
Microsoft is not a reference in the photography software market, but occasionally they release some tools that I add to my toolbox or at list I find interesting. This time I came across Image Composite Editor (ICE) 2.0 which has been developped by the research branch of the brand. With ICE 2 you basically can create panoramic images from a set of images or from a video. I gave it a try recently with a handheld video capture at Piazza de Santo Pedro, Rome, Italy and… I was honestly surprised.
Picos da Europa expedition 2015: day 3
Day 2 was a long, exhausting day and as a group we decided to sleep a bit more this morning. We have participants of all ages and the fact that the drivers are also photographers, means no extra sleep for the wheel bearers.
Picos da Europa expedition 2015: day 2
The morning started early: after 3 hours of deep and fast sleep, the alarm clock went of at 5:00. And what a shock that was! The big difference I immediately felt was that after the milliseconds it took for me to acknowledge where I was and remembering what I was there to do, it took me no time to jump out of bed, grab a quick snack and some coffee from my thermal bottle and there I was – ready to rock and roll!
Picos da Europa expedition 2015: day 1
As I start writing this new set of posts, less than 24 hours have gone by since arriving from the expedition. I am being completely honest with you when I say that I still miss the words for accurately describing the sensations I came across during these last 5 days. I guess somethings are really to be felt and not put in words. Very few have the ability to transpose this and I’m certainly not one of them. Please bear that in mind while reading the remaining posts of this series.
Picos da Europa expedition 2015: T-0 day
Getting soooo close I can almost smell it 🙂 (as in the cold air in the high mountains)
with hours left to the beginning of the journey there is not much left to prepare
Picos da Europa expedition 2015: T-3 days
A post that considers bot the T-4 and T-3 days.
Yesterday, a day mostly dedicated to the family, with a final shopping points in the way (some snacks to carry during the day and caffeine drinks for the driving 🙂 ). As I will have a very active next days, I will do all the packing today. I don’t want to stay up late on the days before driving as it adds unnecessary risk to the mix.
